Tomato (Advanced/Legacy) Router Setup for Smart DNS Proxy

It’s only necessary to set up Smart DNS Proxy one time in order to use it. After you set up Smart DNS proxy, you don’t have to follow these steps. Your connection will automatically use the correct DNS settings.

 

Advanced Tomato Firmware

1. Open the router interface by navigating to it in your browser.  

2. Navigate to the  "Basic" -> "Network" menu on the left side of the screen.

3. Select "Manual" for "DNS Server" and enter the following DNS addresses:

DNS 1: 91.148.225.50

DNS 2: 91.148.229.50 

 

4. Click the "Save" buton.

5. Click "Advanced Settings" on the left side of the screen, then click "DHCP/DNS" and select the following checkboxes.

  • Use Internal DNS
  • Prevent DNS-rebind attacks
  • Intercept DNS port (UDP 53)

6. Click the "Save" button and restart your router.

 

 

Legacy Tomato Firmware

1. Open the router interface by navigating to it in your browser.  

2. Navigate to the  "Basic" -> "Network" menu on the left side of the screen.

3. Enter the following DNS servers into the "LAN -> Static DNS" fields:

91.148.225.50

91.148.229.50 

0.0.0.0

 

4. Click the "Save" button.

5. Click "Advanced" on the left side of the screen, then click "DHCP/DNS" and select the following checkboxes.

  • Use Internal DNS
  • Prevent DNS-rebind attacks
  • Intercept DNS port (UDP 53)

6. Click the "Save" button and restart your router.
